How to decorate a marquee - on location
Date: March 9th 2017
Time: 9.30 - 5.00
This unique course will be held in a marquee, making it a very practical and technical hands on course. We won't be wafting through meadows with secateurs.
Marquees are a wonderful blank canvas, but can also seem a dauntingly vast space to decorate, by brides and florists alike. The aim of this course is to provide confidence and enthusiasm, and the technical skills.
We will work as a team to create 2 large suspended displays, you will learn how to create the displays, the equipment needed, the ideal flowers to use and equally as importantly then how to hang them.
A large urn arrangement will be also part of the course, including best practice on positioning feature arrangements for the best show, photography and not getting in the way of the caterers.
We will work with Mr Beamish from Events and Tents, who will explain the varying suspension techniques that are available, the constraints on weight, timing and other such practical issues. Understanding how other suppliers work, their needs and priorities is a huge part of making a successful wedding.
Working with the best of both English and Dutch flower and foliage suppliers, we will create stunning displays with 2 different design briefs. Showing how the blank canvas of a marquee can be a backdrop for an elegant or more casual feel. We will also demonstrate how chair, table, lining. lighting and carpet choices can have a huge influence on design.
We will also cover other ideas for decor, table centres, the merits of tall and short, entrance decoration and non-floral styling.
Refreshments are provided throughout the day, including a lunch during which time we can discuss any questions you have on marquees, working with brides, or any aspect of floristry.
The marquee will be located just a few miles from the shop here in Stamford, details of the location will be posted out with the information pack on booking.
